Phone Repair Terms & Conditions

Note for the VONIQ team This page is a professional starting framework, not a certified legal document. Have it reviewed by a Manitoba/Canadian lawyer before launch, and confirm every field marked with a fallback sentence via js/site-config.js.

These Phone Repair Terms & Conditions apply whenever VONIQ ("VONIQ", "we", "us") performs a diagnostic, doorstep repair, in-person repair, or related service on a customer's ("you") device. They apply alongside our general Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Where these Repair Terms and the general Terms differ on a repair-specific point, these Repair Terms apply.

1. Two service types: Doorstep and In-Person

VONIQ currently offers repair in two ways, chosen by you at the start of booking:

  • Doorstep Repair: a VONIQ technician attends the service address you provide. Doorstep repair is currently available in Winnipeg, Manitoba and select surrounding areas. We may decline or need to reschedule a booking for an address outside our current service area, and will let you know as early as possible if that's the case.
  • In-Person Repair: you bring your device to the VONIQ repair location described in section 3 below. No doorstep fee applies to in-person repairs.

Accessory orders placed through our online shop remain available Canada-wide regardless of which repair service type you use, and are governed by our general Terms & Conditions, not these Repair Terms.

2. How your doorstep service zone and fee are determined

VONIQ, not any third-party mapping service, determines whether your address is within our doorstep service area and what doorstep fee (if any) applies. We currently match your postal code against a service-area list VONIQ maintains, rather than an automatic live driving-distance calculation — an automatic calculation would require a secure server-side system this site does not yet have, and we won't pretend otherwise. If your postal code isn't yet matched to a confirmed zone, we will follow up directly to confirm your service area and fee before your appointment is finalized — we do not silently accept or confirm a doorstep booking outside a confirmed service area. See our repair pricing breakdown for the current, honest state of this pricing.

3. VONIQ repair location & in-person authorization

The VONIQ repair location is used for in-person repair appointments and technician dispatch. Full address details are available on our Repair Location page. Unless we've told you otherwise, this location is not a walk-in retail storefront — please book an in-person appointment before visiting. By booking an in-person repair, you agree to bring the device described in your booking to this location at your confirmed appointment time.

4. Repair authorization & ownership

By submitting a repair request, you confirm that you own the device or are otherwise authorized by its owner to request service on it. We may decline service if we reasonably believe a device is not yours to authorize repairs on.

5. Appointment, access & on-site conduct (doorstep)

For doorstep appointments, please ensure someone authorized is present at the confirmed address and time window, and that our technician can reasonably access the location (building entry, parking, etc. — use the access instructions field on the booking form for anything we should know in advance). Our technician may decline to proceed if the location is unsafe or access cannot reasonably be arranged.

6. Device condition & pre-existing damage

Our technician notes the device's condition (including any visible pre-existing damage) before beginning work, for both doorstep and in-person repairs. This helps distinguish pre-existing issues from anything that occurs during our service. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage identified before a repair begins.

7. Diagnostic inspection

A diagnostic inspection may be required to identify the issue and confirm a repair estimate. If a diagnostic fee applies, we will tell you before it's charged. A diagnostic inspection does not guarantee that a repair is possible or that a specific outcome will be achieved.

8. Estimated vs. final pricing

Any price we give before inspecting your device is an estimate, not a final price. We will confirm final pricing with you before proceeding with paid work, and will not exceed an approved estimate without contacting you first. Final pricing may also include a doorstep service fee (doorstep bookings only) and/or travel or after-hours surcharge where applicable (see our repair pricing breakdown), plus applicable taxes. In-person repairs do not include a doorstep fee.

9. Approval for additional work

If we discover additional damage or issues once a repair is underway, we will contact you with an updated estimate. We will not perform or charge for additional work beyond what you originally approved without your further authorization.

10. Parts: OEM, aftermarket & refurbished

The type of replacement part used (new, aftermarket, or refurbished) varies by repair and device, and will be disclosed to you as part of your repair estimate before you approve the work. We do not represent that any repair is an authorized or manufacturer-certified repair unless we've told you so specifically for that service.

11. Data, privacy & backup responsibility

  • Backing up your device's data before service is your responsibility. We recommend doing this before every appointment, doorstep or in-person.
  • We only access device functions and information reasonably necessary to diagnose or perform the requested repair, and we do not intentionally access unrelated personal content.
  • Some repairs carry an inherent risk of data loss, factory reset, or settings changes. We do not guarantee that your data will be preserved, and we are not responsible for data loss except where required by law.
  • We only request a device passcode when genuinely necessary for diagnosis or repair, and we ask for it securely and directly — never through a public web form.
  • If a device serial number or IMEI is genuinely needed (for example, to confirm compatible parts or warranty records), we collect only what's necessary and handle it securely.
  • See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information collected through the booking and repair process.

12. Liquid / water damage limitations

Liquid or water damage assessments and repairs are inherently unpredictable. Internal corrosion may not be fully visible until a device is opened, and a device may fail during or after inspection or repair regardless of the care taken. We cannot guarantee a successful outcome for liquid-damaged devices and will discuss realistic expectations with you before proceeding.

13. Device functionality after repair

We aim to restore the function(s) covered by your repair. Repairing one issue does not guarantee that other, unrelated components will continue to function, particularly on older or previously damaged devices.

14. Repair completion

For most doorstep and in-person repairs, our technician completes the work during your appointment and reviews the results with you before you leave (or before our technician leaves, for doorstep). Where a repair can't be completed the same visit, turnaround time depends on the device, issue, and parts availability, and we'll let you know using your preferred contact method.

15. Rescheduling & no-shows

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment. If our technician is unable to reach you or access the address at the confirmed appointment time (doorstep), or you do not arrive for a confirmed in-person appointment, a no-show or additional travel charge may apply — exact terms will be confirmed here.

16. Cancellation

If you cancel before our technician is dispatched (doorstep) or before your in-person appointment time, no charge applies. If you cancel after dispatch, after a diagnostic has been performed, or after parts have been ordered for your repair, you may be responsible for costs already incurred — exact terms will be confirmed here.

17. Unclaimed devices

In the rare case a device is left with VONIQ (for example, for an in-person repair that can't be completed the same visit) and not collected within a reasonable period after we notify you it's ready, it may be subject to handling under Manitoba law governing unclaimed goods; exact timeframes will be confirmed here. We will make reasonable attempts to contact you before taking further action.

18. Repair warranty

Repairs performed by VONIQ — doorstep or in-person — are covered by our Repair Warranty, which sets out the warranty period, what is and isn't covered, and how to make a claim. Please review it separately from these Terms.

19. Refunds

Where a repair cannot be completed, or where required by law, we will discuss appropriate options with you, which may include a partial or full refund of amounts paid, depending on work already performed. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

20. Damage caused by misuse after repair

Our repair warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidental drops, liquid exposure, unauthorized repair attempts by a third party, or other misuse occurring after your appointment. See the Repair Warranty page for full exclusions.

21. Payment

How doorstep and in-person repairs are paid for will be confirmed here once a payment method is set up. No payment gateway is connected to this site yet, so no online repair payment is currently processed through it. Repair payment is handled separately from payment for accessory orders placed through our online shop.

22. Repair ID & tracking

When you submit a repair request, we generate a unique Repair ID (for example, "VONIQ-2026-7K3M9Q") and record your request in VONIQ's server-side booking system. We also issue a secure tracking link and a 6-digit PIN; either one, together with your Repair ID, lets you check your live status on our Track Your Repair page from any device — a Repair ID by itself is never enough to view your repair's details, so no one else can look it up. Submitting a request does not, by itself, guarantee a specific appointment time, final price, or completion date — we follow up directly to confirm every booking.

23. Manitoba & Canadian consumer protection

Manitoba's Consumer Protection Act includes specific written-estimate, authorization, and warranty requirements for motor vehicle repairs; that specific regime does not extend to phone and electronics repair. As a matter of business practice, VONIQ voluntarily follows similar consumer-friendly principles for both doorstep and in-person phone repairs: a documented estimate before work begins, no charges without your authorization, and disclosed warranty terms. General Manitoba and federal consumer protection law may still apply to our services more broadly. This section is not legal advice; if you have concerns about your rights, you may also contact Manitoba's Consumer Protection Office.

24. Contact & disputes

If something about your repair doesn't seem right, contact us first at Voniq.ca@gmail.com, (431) 344-1030, or WhatsApp so we can try to resolve it directly.
